At the Library

Currently as I type this blog entry I am chillaxin with Jon Melchert while he slurps his Italian Soda.

Anyways, I've checked out 7 books out for grad project. These books will be posted into my work cited page in a little bit.

Key Terms

1. RAM- a computer memory on which data can be both read and written and on which the location of data does not affect the speed of its retrieval

2. Hard drive- a data-storage device consisting of a drive and one or more hard disks

3. SATA- Serial Advanced Technology Attachment; A computer bus technology primarily designed for transfer of data to and from a hard disk

4. IDE- Integrated Drive Electronics: Standard interface and protocol for hard disks; The disk controller is an integrated part of the hard disk unit

5. Graphics card- A video card, also known as a graphics accelerator card, display adapter, or graphics card, is an expansion card whose function is to generate and output images to a display

6. Power Source-A power supply unit (PSU) is the component that supplies power to a computer. More specifically, a power supply is typically designed to convert 100-120 V (North America and Japan) or 220-240 V (New Zealand, Europe, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia) AC power from the mains to usable low ...

7. Motherboard- A motherboard is the central printed circuit board (PCB) in some complex electronic systems, such as modern personal computers. ...

8. Thermal Paste- a fluid substance, originally with properties akin to grease, which increases the thermal conductivity of a thermal interface by compensating for the irregular surfaces of the components. In electronics, it is often used to aid a component's thermal dissipation via a heat sink.

9. CPU- central processing unit: is the portion of a computer system that carries out the instructions of a computer program, and is the primary element carrying out the computer's functions.

10. Sound card- a computer expansion card that facilitates the input and output of audio signals to and from a computer under control of computer programs.

11. PCI- a computer bus for attaching hardware devices in a computer.
